It was about 80 degrees today so I went for a walk after work. I’ve been watching more street photographers online (izzyfts, trevorwisecup) and watching how they take photos inspired me to get a bit out of my comfort zone and put my camera in people’s faces and see what happens. I still missed a few potentially cool shots out of fear and/or nervousness, but I’m proud of the shots I did get. As much as I like my manual focus lenses, for street and concert photography, auto-focus would be a huge help. Some of these shots that I love would be a whole lot better if they were actually in focus. I think that’s also why so many street photographers use flash even in the middle of the day. I think the extra light on the subject lets you use a smaller aperture and faster shutter speed. Maybe I’ll get to feeling comfortable using a flash as well, but one step at a time.
